The Celts had no writing, that’s why it is believed Celts used these kind of arts to express themselves. More often the knots are associated with just art, also imaginable, because art is also a way of expression, used by all cultures back then and now.

Almost all Celtic knots form infinite connections, which are easily explained as infinite life , but it’s not clear if this explanation was realy used. Furthermore celtic knots where often used as part of other symbols, including for example the famous Celtic Cross.
